elder aaron spork

Heather is such a creative gal! She made this little guy to send to Aaron. Here he is in action:

Wonder if he'll find any investigators....

a couple of milestones

Saturday was a big day for David.

In the morning, he participated in a "cross-over" at the Scout Family Carnival. He crossed over from being a Cub Scout to being a Boy Scout. They had a rope bridge set up for the boys to cross--and on the other side they were met by Scout leaders--in the case of David and his friend, Ethan, their dads. End of one era. Start of another.

Some happy Cubs.

The ceremony included some Native American-style activity.

David almost ran across the bridge. (Being spotted by an older Scout.)

Two new Boy Scouts.

The other milestone actually was on Friday, when David turned eleven. But he and his friend, Ethan, had a joint birthday party at Putters on Saturday afternoon. Lots of good putting action. Friends. Cake. Gifts. Arcade games.

David and his golfing buddies.

Mom made a cake.

Make a wish!

Mom's wish: that time didn't fly by so fast...

David's Roadrunner Award

At today's Roadrunner Assembly, David received an award for being responsible. He does a good job completing his homework.
(with just a little encouragement from mom)

Here he is with his teacher, and his friends Tom (who also received an award) and Kyle. Way to go!

the most inspirational thing I've seen in a long time

Please, please go watch this YouTube video. It brought me to tears.

look who came to visit

So, we peeked out to our front yard the other day, and we had guests:

I was going to title this "Make way for ducklings," but there weren't any babies. Just Mr. and Mrs. Duck, taking their rest on our lawn, watching folks walk to and from the park. They looked so content.

David earns his Webelos and Arrow of Light

David has worked hard the last few weeks (as have his parents and his Cub Scout leader), and last night he was awarded his last activity badges and his Webelos award. He got to carry the flag for the opening flag ceremony:

Lots of good marching action.

A pleased-looking young man.

Of course, there was the pinning of the mom. (Or her shirt, anyway.)

He also earned his Arrow of Light award, which was presented in a solemn Native American-style ceremony. We're awfully proud of him.

This is our last pack meeting. [sigh] David turns 11 this month and will move on to Boy Scouts. End of an era.
