What a great surprise I got today as I went to check my mail. Tucked between my screen door and my front door was a package from a publishing company. "What did I order that I've forgotten about?" I thought. So I opened it.
It was a complimentary copy of the just-published Worldwide Ward Cookbook by Deanna Buxton, published by Covenant Communications (available here). Many months ago, someone (maybe YOU) sent me an email, saying that this lady was collecting recipes for this project and would I like to submit a recipe. Those whose recipes were used would receive a free copy of the book. On a whim, I submitted one of my favorite recipes, one for New England Apple Pie. Check out page 297! :-D
I had vowed to never buy a cookbook again, but if you want a really neat one, this is it. It has a kitchen-cabinet-full of recipes from New Zealand, Ghana, Germany, Hawaii, South Africa, Israel, Argentina, Oregon, Arizona, Salt Lake City, Georgia--the list goes and on and on. Some of the recipes have pictures of the submitters or stories to go with them. I'm excited to look through the book and find something yummy to try out!
Maybe Tatws Pum Munud from Wales, or Shipwreck from Portugal, or Fruit Cobbler from Alabama, or Ezra Taft Benson's Lemon Meringue Pie, or Jenny's Salsa Chicken, or Kalua Pork from Hawaii, or Iraqi Rice, or Tortellini Salad from Utah....
